It's been snowing and it's extremely cold... no wait, FREEEZING!  This weather is not good for real estate... not good at all!  I'm pretty stuck on the idea of staying in today (as my car, "Princess" does not perform very well in these conditions), so if I can swing it, that would be great.  That of course doesn't mean I won't be working - quite the contrary actually.  See a lot of people have this perception that being in real estate only really consists of dumping a property on MLS for the selling side and taking people out to see homes on the buying side.  What they don't see is all the work that is required to get the buyers and sellers and then to maintain them.  They have no idea whatsoever how complicated and expensive it can be to solicit for clients - this is sales, not being a tour guide. 

On average, I think my Visa bills come in pretty high with all the advertising and marketing expenses including things like websites, real estate magazines, tv ads, virtual tours, MLS fees, farming flyers, just listed/sold cards, SOI marketing, business cards/collateral and everything else that I'm missing. 

Then the second thing people underestimate is the time required to do all of these things.  Just think about it for a second... if you're out showing people homes and/or on appointments to list property for the bulk of the day, when do you have time to design/update your things, create/develop new tools, meet/network for more business, plan/set/execute strategy, and most importantly - sleep!  Time is a parishable commodity and in this business, you learn pretty quick that there's not much of it in a day!

OK - so someone just cancelled.  Apparently it's Valentines Day today and they want to reschedule until next week now (not like I'm complaining) - damn Hallmark did such a good job with creating this holiday!  People won't take the trek out to look at homes, but they'll make it out to goo-goo-ga-ga their significant others.  I'm not bitter at all, but come on, priorities here!  haha... I'm just kidding - maybe not, but that's only because Real Estate is the ONE for me .
