The Long Weekend Catch 22

Long weekends are a tricky time for Real Estate Agents... the question of whether or not you can take "time off" is something that lingers over you.  See, for employed folk, long weekends are perfect for getting away, running errands, catching up, relaxing and/or partying it up... for a Realtor however, people having time usually means that you better be available.

The thing that sucks is that these long weekends are very unpredicatable.  Since people are off and finally have time, you would think that they'd be more available and inclined to look at homes, which is the case for some, but then you also have the bunch that actually enjoy life.  So you have a few that are very keen on looking and then the other majority that aren't... which leaves you with fewer people/clients to work with, but people/clients you probably can't afford to not work with.

Unfortunately for us Real Estate folk, "time-off" is often an illusion and unless a holiday is self made, there is no such thing.   If you don't physically leave the city or country and really shut off your phone and email, there's just no stopping... and if you aren't available, someone else is.

I personally worked everyday over the weekend while I still managed to throw in some good old fun here and there - it would have been nice to be able to sleep in sometimes too though I must admit, but I guess you can't win them all.
