Joanna's House - Episode 4: Back from the Break

Ok, my apologies for not updating, but if you haven't noticed, the market has been frozen solid over the last little while.  Seasonal and holiday effect kicked into full gear and real estate was the last thing on many people's minds -- including mine actually, which is a first.  Can you believe I totally let go of work and really enjoyed myself for once?  Not bad, huh?  Well, on the flip side, the bad news is the pending Visa bill... I caused quite a bit of damage which is why it's a better idea for me to work because the alternative is spending!

Anyway, the search continues, but things are dead - really dead.  There is a severe shortage of listings on the market right now and all the stuff that is sitting is sitting for a reason.  It appears as though sellers are still trying to come to terms with the changing market as they're not priced aggressively enough to generate sales.  People who have bought recently are in no financial shape to move right now, so basically, it's a waiting game... waiting until the diamond in the rough shows it's face.  How long that will be?  Your guess is as good as mine - actually, maybe not.  I think it'll be at least mid-year until we have a better indication on the magnitude of the "damage" in the real estate market.  Being a part of the instant gratification society we now live in, I must say that it's pretty hard to wait and be patient.

On a side note, I will admit that I almost deviated from the plan... I almost bought a condo - it was a two storey one though!  It was a wicked deal, but I hesitated and slept on it and it sold the very next morning.  That just goes to show that even in a market like this, the good deals don't last long.  Back to the house idea, the more I think about it and the more I look around at some of these older and sometimes nasty houses, the more I wonder if I can actually live in a house.  The snow is another factor that has been weighing heavily on my mind since that white stuff has been falling so much!  Call me spoiled, but I'm used to going underground to my snow free car and I definitely don't know if I could handle shovelling snow or having my car plowed in on the street - that's just not cool!!

Guess we'll see what happens won't we...

I suggest you offer $400k on C1574281 and spend a little of your budget creating a rental and minor updates.
